Craftisan Featurette

Artist Kevin Dominiak has been crafting with barrel staves since 2021, creating one-of-a-kind coat racks, wine holders, clocks, and more. He sources his barrels from Seneca Lake wineries, reimagining them into functional home decor themed to a variety of interests and hobbies. The coat racks in particular span a wide array of hobbies, from golf, made with iron heads and a ball, to hunting, featuring deer heads as the hooks. He also uses old railroad spikes for some of his racks, which would vibe perfectly in a steampunk decor setting.

His newest piece is also for the golfer – a barrel head table top with “legs” and golf spikes, featuring a golf ball mounted on a realistic grass foundation.

There’s also the Wine O’Clock clocks, the votive candle holders, the heart-shaped wall piece, and the vertical Buffalo Bills yard art that round out the offerings you can find from the Staving Artist. “I really love making these wine-themed crafts and enjoy the wonderful compliments I get on my talents,” he said. 

Originally from Cheektowaga, Kevin currently lives in Lockport and was originally inspired to try his hand at crafting after visiting a Seneca Lake winery gift shop. His pieces can now be found at the Checkered Poppy Antiques & Gifts in Lockport, as well as the Old Chapel Market in North Tonawanda, and around the region at various vendor markets.
