bri eberhart

Bri Eberhart is in a flow.

The author is wrapping up the third book of a YA fantasy trilogy series, has queries in with publishers and agents related to an adult romantic fantasy project (“romantasy”), is working on two other unrelated book projects, and is set to have two short stories published in print next Spring 2026.

Her trilogy series, Strangers, tells the story of a group of teenagers with special powers who must overcome an authoritarian regime bent on snuffing out their existence, all the while having to deal with the trials & tribulations of being a young adult. And while she’ll keep the main characters storyline to a three-book arc, Bri’s first-ever written manuscript will soon join the universe as a 1.5 in the series, and there’s always the possibility that she’ll revisit that world at some point down the line.

“I do have ideas for more novels in the Strangers universe, but they won’t be focused on Gemma and Theo and it’s so far down the road, I don’t even know when I’ll start working on them,” Bri said. “However, the door will always remain cracked to that universe, so you never know.”

The third part of the story should be out next year, “but don’t hold me to that!” she said. “I got about 50,000 words in and then was swept away by a new, unrelated project, so I’m really hoping to buckle down and finish in the new year. I’d love for it to be out by August 2026, but only time will tell.”

Bri’s journey to being a novelist started out a bit bumpy, with some “very, very bad” teenage poetry that saw its end in the most dramatically cinematic way possible – burned to ash with all of the angst young Bri could summon. But by 2016 (about 6 years after high school) she started to take herself seriously as a creative writer, with her first-ever short story evolving into a novel, which ultimately ended up being the big bang that poofed the Strangers universe into existence.

the door will always remain cracked to that universe, so you never know.

Bri draws inspiration from the region, having lived in Lockport, NY since graduating from high school in the neighboring township of Newfane, NY in 2010. “I’ve always been local to the region,” she said. “There are a lot of little easter eggs in my books for the area, which I think is neat. I like to pay homage to my roots, ya know?

“There are a few things from Strangers in Our Heads that directly relate to Newfane, which is fun for those who’ve caught them and have reached out. Additionally, the book I’m working on now (unrelated to Strangers) mentions the Eighteen Mile Creek and Lake Ontario, and inspiration first came to me because of the Van Horn Mansion.”

Catch Bri and parts 1 & 2 of Strangers at the Literary Lounge 716, 2 Main St in Tonawanda, 11am – 4pm on Saturday, November 22. You can also order directly from her website: brieberhart.com, “or you can find them in most local indie bookstores,” she said, including Lock City Books, 8 Market St inside the Bewley Building in downtown Lockport. Readers can find the complete bookstore list on the “where to find my books” pinned post on Instagram – @bri_eberhart.
